DIRECTOR GIRL'S LACROSSE Jill Byers just completed her fourth season at Ohio State in 2017. The first three years she was the assistant coach and in 2018 was the Associate Head Coach at Ohio State University. Two seasons ago Byers helped head coach Alexis Venechanos lead the Buckeyes to 11 victories while just missing out on a third straight NCAA tournament appearance. In 2015 Byers helped the Buckeyes to a 13-8 record, a berth in the Big Ten tournament championship game, an upset of No. 1-ranked Maryland and a second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament. Four years ago prior to her arrival in Columbus, Byers helped lead Stony Brook to an impressive 17-win season, claiming the America East Title and an NCAA Tournament appearance. The Seawolves posted 11-consecutive wins, and broke their own Division I record for goals allowed per game, yielding an average of 5.65. Prior to her stint at Stony Brook, Byers sidelined as Notre Dame's top assistant and helped her alma mater to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2013. "I couldn't be more thrilled to have Jill in our program," Venechanos said. "She had an incredible playing career and her vast coaching experiences will no doubt help our program immediately. I am very impressed with her ability to connect with student-athletes to motivate and inspire them." Prior to her coaching stint in South Bend, Byers was an assistant at Yale for three seasons. In 2012, she directed a Bulldog offense that netted 137 goals, a 65 percent increase from the previous season and the most for the program since 2008. A 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist and team captain, she produced a historic playing career at Notre Dame, where she graduated as the all-time leader in goals (262), points (336) and draw controls (154). A four-time IWLCA All-American and 2009 Honda Award finalist, Byers wrapped up her collegiate playing days fourth in NCAA history in career goals and 10th in points. After her league-record 78 goals in Big East Play to be named Big East Attack Player of the Year, Byers was voted the second runner-up for Notre Dame's Female Athlete of the Decade Award. A two-time Big East Academic All-Star, Byers graduated from Notre Dame in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in film, television and theatre. The Northport, N.Y., native also played for the U.S. Women's National Team from 2008-12, where she competed with and against the best players in the world. |

DIRECTOR BOY'S SOCCER In 2017-18 Ian Gordona was the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coach at the Ohio State University "THE COLLEGE ID CAMP" is pleased to announce that Ian Gordona, will now be the Director at THE COLLEGE ID CAMP. Coach Gordona has been a US National Scout that has worked with a variety of age groups. He has coached 113 All-Americans, 66 Youth National Team players, 51 professionals and six National Players of the Year and won four national championships in 10 years. Coach Gordona will be on the field coaching and evaluating players with other top college coaches at every level, as players gain experience being coached by high end and experienced College and National Coaches. There will be a number of other experienced college coaches working with Coach Gordona on the field at our camps as we work diligently in bringing the best college coaches at every level in the country to THE COLLEGE ID CAMP. This is not a day camp. We are bringing college coaches to you. This is for all players that inspire to play soccer in college. Bart Nason and Ian Gordona will work together to help coordinate and bring the best college coaches to THE COLLEGE ID CAMP as we continue to work endlessly to get players seen by college coaches. Alex (Mundy) Benedict enters her sixth season at UMBC after joining the women’s lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach in September of 2012.
In her first season with the Retrievers, the Dawgs had three players earn postseason awards. Senior defender Jamie Fahey received America East All-Conference First Team honors for the third consecutive season and was named to her first America East All-Academic Team. Midfielders Kristen Bilney and Alyssa Semones were recognized to the first and second teams, respectively.
In 2017, the Retriever defense was staunch as they limited 10 of their 17 opponents to 10 goals or less. UMBC had five players - Sam Nolan, Carolyn Jamison, Kayla Renehan, Lauren McDonald, and Sara Moeller - named to the America East All-Conference Team. Renehan became the first defender named to the all-conference team since Fahey back in 2013. The Retrievers also made a third-straight appearance in the America East tournament, the first time since the 2010-12 season, and posted an 11-6 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play.
In 2016, Slade and the Retrievers made a back-to-back appearance in the America East Championship and saw junior Sam Nolan and sophomore Carolyn Jamison named to the America East All-Conference Team. In 2015, the Retrievers returned to the America East Tournament for the first time since 2012, posting an 8-9 overall mark and a 3-3 record in America East play. The Retrievers had three players earn post-season recognition in senior Abby Wilson (America East Second Team), junior Megan Flock (All-Academic Team) and freshman Tianna Wallpher (All-Rookie Team).
Benedict, a former two-time All-American Second Team honoree, played four seasons with the Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse program. During her time with the Commodores, Mundy earned First Team All-Conference and First Team Regional All-American honors, while helping VU to an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top-15 National Ranking all four seasons and appeared in four straight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournaments.
Benedict graduated in 2010 from Vanderbilt with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and political science, as well as a minor in managerial studies with a concentration in corporate strategy.
Following her playing career and a brief stint outside of athletics, Benedict returned to the field, serving as an assistant coach at Yale for one season. While with the Bulldogs, Benedict took on responsibilities such as team defensive coordinator, community service coordinator, alumni communications coordinator, equipment coordinator and co-recruiting coordinator.
Benedict graduated with a Masters of Public Policy with a focus in public management in the spring of 2015.

GABBY CAPUZZI - ALMA MATER (2012)
Gabby Capuzzi enters her fourth season as an assistant coach for the 2018 season at Navy. Capuzzi's focus is on Navy's defensive end and has an active role in recruiting.In 2017, the women’s lacrosse team finished the year 18-5 overall with an 8-1 record in the Patriot League. The team made history as it became the first Service Academy team from a women’s sport to advance to the NCAA Final Four.
The Mids made their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the first appearance for Navy since 2013. The Midshipmen began their historic run, advancing to the NCAA Tournament after posting a 15-5 victory over top-seeded Loyola in the Patriot League Tournament. The win marked the team’s fifth championship and ended the Greyhounds’ 41-game winning streak against PL foes.
In the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Navy defeated No. 7 Penn, 11-10, at Penn Park on Dunning-Cohen Champions Field in Philadelphia, Pa. With the win, the Midshipmen advanced to the second round of the Tournament for just the second time in school history. The victory over the No. 7 Quakers was the first win against a ranked opponent in Navy history. In addition, it was the second NCAA Tournament win for Navy in program history. Navy posted a 23-11 victory over UMass in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the Mids to advance to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. The Mids defeated defending National Champions and No. 2 seed North Carolina, 16-14, to punch their ticket in to the first-ever Final Four appearance in school history.
As a team, Navy set the school record for points (545), goals (358), assists (187), shots attempted (805), shots on goal (607), ground balls (453), draw controls (364), caused turnovers (216), and games played (23). The Mids (18-5) finished one-win shy of tying the school records for wins in a season.
The 2017 Navy women’s lacrosse team finished the year ranked fourth in the final Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and sixth in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll. The rankings mark the first time in program history that the Mids have been ranked in the top 10 in either poll. It is the highest national ranking for any women’s team in school history.
Following the 2017 campaign, Capuzzi competed as part of Team Italy in the FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup in England. She finished with 29 goals – tied for most in the tournament – to help Italy to an 11th place finish in its first ever World Cup.
In 2016, Navy returned to the Patriot League Championship for the second straight year. Earning the second seed in the league tournament, the Mids defeated No. 3 Boston University, 10-7. Navy looked to dethrone two-time league champion Loyola in the championship game, but felt short, 12-8, after a slow first-half start. The Mids, who have competed in the league tournament since they entered the league in 2008, finished the season with a 13-6 overall mark.
In 2015, Capuzzi guided a Navy defense that ranked 10th in the country in scoring defense at 7.75 goals per game. The Mids held 13 of their 20 opponents under 10 goals. Navy had 10 players with 10 or more caused turnovers. She helped coach senior defender Sarah George to her first career All-Patriot League laurel, as she garnered first team honors.
Capuzzi spent two seasons working various roles as a part of the Ohio State coaching staff, including the 2013-14 season as the program's full-time assistant coach.
Former All-American Capuzzi lettered from 2009-12 at Ohio State. She led the team with 42 goals, 52 draw controls, 38 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers in 2012 and is the OSU record holder for career draws (166) after previously tying the single-season draw record in 2012 and owning two of the top three positions.
Capuzzi is already familiar with the Naval Academy lacrosse atmosphere, having worked as a Navy camp counselor and instructor for the past five summers in Annapolis. She will be Navy's top assistant and be responsible for coaching the defense.
Capuzzi graduated from Ohio State in June 2012 with a bachelor's degree in strategic communications with a minor in media production and analysis. She also earned her master of science in sports administration and leadership at Duquesne University in June 2014.

ASSISTANT COACH AT COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina head lacrosse coach Kristen Selvage announced the addition of Katie Frederick as assistant coach in August of 2016.Frederick comes to Coastal after being a four-year letter winner at Ohio State while serving as the Buckeyes' captain and starting goalkeeper this past spring.
Frederick took over the defensive calls early in the 2017 campaign resulting in the best season for saves with 173, saves per game at 9.11 and .506 save percentage. Frederick coached goalkeeper Harley Barrett to the 2017 ASUN All-Conference First Team and defender Caroline Williams to Second Team honors, as well as defender Emily D'Orsaneo to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
The 2016 season, Frederick led Ohio State to a school-record 11-1 start while reeling off a school-record nine straight wins as the squad reached a program-best #8 in the national polls. The Buckeyes finished the season with an 11-6 mark as Frederick started all 17 in goal. She registered 108 saves and her 6.35 saves per game ranked third-best in the Big 10 Conference.
During her senior season, Frederick was tabbed both Inside Lacrosse National and Big Ten Defensive player of the Week. She made a career-high 14 saves and had a save percentage of 67 percent in Ohio State's 8-7 win over #18 John's Hopkins.
The Yorktown, N.Y., native helped Ohio State win 45 games, the program's best total over a four-year period.
In addition to her playing career, Frederick has worked on the camp staffs at North Carolina, Navy, University of Findlay and Ohio State and she coached for the House of Sports, Yorktown Bombers, Midwestern Force and XTeam lacrosse clubs.
A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2014, 2015 and 2016), Frederick graduated from Ohio State in the spring of 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in human development and family science.

ASSISTANT COACH AT COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina head lacrosse coach Kristen Selvage announced the addition of Katie Frederick as assistant coach in August of 2016.Frederick comes to Coastal after being a four-year letter winner at Ohio State while serving as the Buckeyes' captain and starting goalkeeper this past spring.
Frederick took over the defensive calls early in the 2017 campaign resulting in the best season for saves with 173, saves per game at 9.11 and .506 save percentage. Frederick coached goalkeeper Harley Barrett to the 2017 ASUN All-Conference First Team and defender Caroline Williams to Second Team honors, as well as defender Emily D'Orsaneo to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
