Roche, a native of Dublin, Ireland, came to Hofstra from St. Joseph’s College where he served as an assistant soccer coach. He has also served as an assistant coach with the semi-professional Lansdowne Bhoys of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League since the fall of 2015 and as a coach with the Massapequa Soccer Club since 2011, working with players ranging from ages 5-22 for one of New York’s premier youth clubs. As a player, Roche played professionally with the University College Dublin Football Club in the League of Ireland premier division from January 2009 through November 2010. He joined FC New York of the United Soccer League in 2011. He has been a playing member of the Lansdowne Bhoys since September 2012. In 2013-14, Lansdowne won both the Cosmopolitan Division One and the Metropolitan Division One titles and also advanced to the semifinals of the National Cup Eastern Regional.
Roche, who owned and operated Flickz Sports Camps in Dublin from March 2004 through 2010, holds a bachelor’s degree in retail and services management from Dublin Institute of Technology. He also owns a national diploma and an advanced national diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and ‘E’ and ‘F’ licenses from the United States Soccer Federation.
