Patrick Corvetti enters his second season as SUNY Old Westbury head men’s soccer coach in 2017.
“I am excited for the opportunity to coach college soccer,” said Corvetti. “It has been a dream of mine to coach at this level.”
Corvetti took over the reins from a program that went 5-10-2 in 2015 after failing to advance to the Skyline Conference Championship for the fourth-straight season.
“I am looking forward to building a highly-competitive program that will be a mainstay in postseason play,” added Corvetti.
In just his first season at Old Westbury, Corvetti posted an 11-4-5 record that included a trip to the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship as the No. 3 seed. Corvetti's efforts saw three of his student-athletes earn 2016 All-Skyline Conference honors.
After spending 11 seasons (2004-15) as varsity boys head soccer coach at Elmont Memorial High School in Elmont, New York, Corvetti is focused on returning Old Westbury to postseason play.
“The challenge of coaching at the college level is something that I have been preparing for my entire career,” said Corvetti.
At Elmont, Corvetti was a three-time Nassau County AA3 conference coach of the year (2006, 2011, 2012) selection in leading the Spartans to three conference championships (2006, 2011, 2012). During the 2012 season, Corvetti coached Elmont to an undefeated season (12-0-3) as the No. 1 team in Nassau County as well as a top-10 Long Island ranking by Newsday.
Prior to leading Elmont Memorial High School, Corvetti served one season as varsity boys head soccer coach at Elmont Junior High School following a three-year stint as varsity boys assistant soccer coach at New Hyde Park High School.
As a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Corvetti holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Class “E” license as well as a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma. He also gained experience as the Conference AA3 Coordinator for the Nassau County Soccer Coaches Association from 2013-14.
Corvetti’s playing background originated as an all-region center back at Nassau Community College during the 1992 season before earning all-state honors in 1994 at SUNY Albany.
Corvetti graduated SUNY Albany in 1998 with his bachelor’s degree in sociology while minoring in psychology. He then earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physical education from Hofstra University in 2004. In 2008, Corvetti achieved a second master’s degree in school leadership from Touro College.
Since 2000, Corvetti has served as the physical education and health teacher at Elmont High School. Corvetti resides in Rockville Centre, New York with his wife, Liza, and children, Luke (8) and Sophia (6).
