Atobra Ampadu returns for his second season as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Manhattanville men's soccer team for the Valiants in 2017.
Under Ampadu, Manhattanville compiled an 11-7 record in 2016, going 4-3 in MAC Freedom play. Working with the defense, Ampadu helped mentor junior Christoffer Staahl to a second consecutive MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year award. Along with Staahl, three other Valiants earned All-Conference recognition under Ampadu's guidance including senior Omar Parra, junior Robin Schaufele, and freshman Felipe Gallo.
Prior to coming to Manhattanville, Ampadu played three years for Boston College after transferring from Hartford after his freshman season. Ampadu was a leader on the defensive end of the field and served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons. On the pitch, Ampadu appeared in all 52 matches during his three seasons with the Eagles, tallying four goals and three assists. In one season at Hartford, he started in all 21 matches, scoring four goals and recording two assists.
A native of Accra, Ghana, Ampadu currently resides in Purchase as he pursues a master’s degree in sport business management.
